MediLodge of Alpena has received a national quality award that was given to only seven skilled nursing facilities in Michigan this year, marking a major recognition for the local care provider.
The Alpena facility earned the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living Silver National Quality Award. The honor recognizes long-term care providers that demonstrate a commitment to improving residents’ lives through a rigorous performance improvement process.
What the Silver Award recognizes
According to the announcement, the Silver Award is presented to organizations that have developed strong organizational systems and approaches capable of producing sustainable quality outcomes. MediLodge said the recognition reflects its ongoing focus on quality care, continuous improvement and resident outcomes.
The award places MediLodge of Alpena among what the organization described as an elite group of providers recognized for quality improvement, operational excellence and resident care. The program evaluates long-term care providers across the country rather than recognizing facilities solely for a single service or event.
Local leadership credits staff
George Sobeck, administrator of MediLodge of Alpena, said the award reflects the work of the facility’s entire team and its support for residents and families.

Paige Frantz, the facility’s director of nursing, also highlighted the significance of being one of only seven Michigan recipients this year.
“Being recognized nationally is an incredible honor, but what makes this achievement even more meaningful is that only seven facilities in Michigan earned this distinction,” said Paige Frantz, Director of Nursing.
The facility said its staff provides care and support to residents and their families as part of a broader culture of quality throughout the organization.

MediLodge of Alpena plans to celebrate the achievement with team members, health care partners and the community on Oct. 21, 2026, at 3 p.m. The supplied announcement cuts off after the event time, so additional celebration details were not available.
