Nonprofit groups, schools, churches and government agencies serving young people in Alpena and three neighboring counties can apply for grants of up to $2,500 through the Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan.
The foundation is accepting applications for its Northeast Michigan Youth Advisory Council grant program. The application deadline is Oct. 15, 2026.
Who can apply
Eligible applicants include nonprofit agencies with a 501(c)(3) designation from the IRS, schools, churches applying for nonreligious purposes and government agencies that operate youth programs. Eligible programs must serve young people in Alcona, Alpena, Montmorency or Presque Isle counties.
The grants are intended for projects that benefit youth throughout the four-county service area. That makes the opportunity available to qualifying organizations serving Alpena-area young people, as well as programs elsewhere in Northeast Michigan.
Priorities for youth funding
The Youth Advisory Councils are especially interested in projects addressing concerns identified in their most recent youth needs assessment. Those concerns include depression and mental health issues, stress, teen substance use and hygiene issues.
Applicants can request no more than $2,500. Application materials are available through the Community Foundation’s Online Grants Portal at cfnem.org.
