Alpena residents, local businesses and community groups will have a chance to turn a Halloween-themed night of bowling into support for local young people. The Boys & Girls Club of Alpena will host its Bowl for Great Futures Halloween Bowling Fundraiser on Oct. 9 at Thunder Bowl Lanes in Alpena.
The club is seeking bowling teams, event sponsors and other community supporters as the fundraiser approaches. Participants can organize teams made up of friends, family members, coworkers or members of an organization. Costumes are encouraged, adding a Halloween element to the evening alongside bowling and friendly competition.
Where the fundraiser’s proceeds will go
Money raised will directly support the Boys & Girls Club of Alpena’s mentoring and youth development programs. According to the club, those programs help provide young people in the Alpena area with positive adult relationships, safe spaces, engaging opportunities and support aimed at helping them reach their full potential.
The Boys & Girls Club serves youth ages 5 through 18. Its programming includes academic success and career readiness, character and leadership, health and wellness, sports and recreation, the arts and social-emotional learning.
How the community can participate
Sponsorship opportunities remain available for local businesses, organizations and families. Sponsors can support youth while receiving recognition as part of the community event. The club is also welcoming donated items and other forms of event support.
People who do not bowl can still help by volunteering during the fundraiser. The event is designed to bring the community together for an evening of Halloween fun while raising support for programs serving Alpena-area youth.
