Alpena-area voters will have three chances in October to learn about two statewide Michigan ballot proposals before the November election. The free, public sessions will be hosted by the League of Women Voters of Northeast Michigan.

The informational programs are designed to help residents understand both measures. According to a League of Women Voters press release, presenters will explain both sides of each proposal so attendees can receive balanced information.

What the proposals would address

Proposal 1 is a constitutional measure that would determine whether Michigan should convene a convention to rewrite the Michigan Constitution. Proposal 2 is a legislative measure concerning restrictions on political contributions.

The presentations will also cover voting resources, including mail-in voting, early voting options, voter registration, election monitoring and the election certification process.
