Alpena voters have until Sept. 30 to pick up absentee ballots at City Hall

Alpena voters who want to receive an absentee ballot in person have until Sept. 30, 2026, to pick it up at City Hall. The option is available to voters on the permanent ballot list and to those who have already requested that an absentee ballot be mailed to them.

Voters who do not pick up their ballots by the deadline do not need to take additional action to receive one. The remaining ballots will be mailed to voters on Oct. 1, 2026.

What voters need to bring

Anyone picking up an absentee ballot in person must present photo identification. Alpena City Hall is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Voters who want to avoid the mailing process should visit City Hall during those hours before the Sept. 30 deadline.

How to request a ballot

Absentee ballots are also available to voters who are not on the permanent ballot list. Those voters may request a ballot online through the Michigan Voter Information Center or make a request in person at City Hall.
