AAACU Gives $100 to Alpena’s Poetics Lab as Community Fund Reaches Six-Figure Goal

The Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union has donated $100 to the Poetics Lab, helping support the organization’s Prominent Poet series, which took place last weekend.

The donation came through AAACU’s Community Investment Fund, a program that returns money to the communities served by the credit union. The fund is supported by members who choose to receive their monthly statements electronically.

How the fund works

AAACU pledges to donate $9 each year for every account enrolled in electronic statements. That member-backed contribution supports community giving without requiring members to make a separate donation.

In 2026, the credit union expects to donate up to $320,406 back into the communities it serves. The Poetics Lab contribution is one example of how those funds are being distributed locally.
