Artwork by Northeast Michigan Artists Guild members is now on display at the Thunder Bay Arts Council Gallery in Downtown Alpena, giving visitors a chance to see work from regional artists alongside pieces by the gallery’s 19 permanent artists.
The exhibition runs during September and October at the TBA Gallery, 127 W. Chisholm Street. The gallery is open to the public from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
What visitors can see
The show features artwork by NEMAG, also known as the Northeast Michigan Artists Guild. Visitors can view that work together with the gallery’s permanent collection during regular visiting hours. The announcement did not identify the individual artists or specific mediums represented in the exhibition.
Guild has supported area artists for decades
NEMAG was first conceived by local artists Kerrie Spooner and Marilyn Bachelor in 1993. The guild began holding monthly meetings in January 1994 at the Jesse Besser Museum.
Its stated purpose is “to promote and support art and artists through inspiration, information and education in our community.” The group says its members range from beginners to advanced artists, and that membership has varied between 25 and 40 people over the years.
The guild describes its work as a way for artists to share ideas, critique artwork, encourage one another, learn and spend time together. NEMAG invites artists of all levels and abilities to join. People seeking more information can email [email protected].
