Birdwatchers of all experience levels can explore the Thunder Bay River during a free guided walk in Alpena on Saturday morning.
The Thunder Bay Audubon Society will host the event as part of the Bird City Celebration. The walk is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., beginning at Sytek Park on Bagley Street and following the Thunder Bay River.
What participants should know
The route uses a paved pathway, which organizers say should make it easy to navigate. TBAS member Ryan Dziedzic will guide the walk. Dziedzic has led several other bird walks in the area.
Participants may bring binoculars if they have them and should dress for the weather. No previous birding experience is required, and the event is free.
