The Par 3 Challenge and Million Dollar Shootout has wrapped up its summer-long competition with a $1,230 donation to the Marine Corps’ League Toys for Tots program.
The Alpena Golf Club program ended Aug. 30, according to The Alpena News. While no golfer won the million-dollar prize, nine participants earned the opportunity to attempt a hole-in-one, and a lucky-draw winner filled the 10th spot in the shootout.
Golfers competed for a final shootout
After the Sunday shootout, organizers held a banquet where prizes were awarded to the 10 golfers. Door prizes were drawn later, bringing the season-long event to a close.
Paul Sabourin, chairman of the Par 3 Challenge and Million Dollar Shootout, presented the check to Jason Gilespie of the Marine Corps’ League Toys for Tots program.
Program has given more than $21,000
This year’s beneficiary was Toys for Tots. The Par 3 Challenge has donated more than $21,000 to local nonprofit charities over its last 16 seasons.
The event is open to the public and allows golfers to participate unless they hold professional golf status. The donation was reported Sept. 9, 2026, by The Alpena News’ local-news RSS feed.
