The Alpena County Planning Commission toured Alpena Community College’s new solar array during its September meeting, offering a closer look at a project tied to the college’s electrical education programs.
Wesley Repke, an instructor in ACC’s Electrical Systems Technology Program, provided background on how the solar system was planned and how it operates.
Connection to electrical technology studies
The array is expected to enhance the college’s new Bachelor of Science degree program in Electrical Systems Technology. The tour gave planning commissioners an opportunity to learn how the system supports the program’s academic and technical goals.
