Alpena High School junior Alexander Allen captured the boys race Saturday at the 58th Annual Holly-Duane Raffin Festival of Races, leading the Wildcats through a muddy, rain-soaked 5-kilometer course at Springfield Oaks County Park in Davisburg.
Allen finished in 16 minutes, 14.1 seconds. His victory came in the final race of the meet, which included 20 races.

The Alpena boys finished 13th among 24 teams in their bracket. The girls team placed 15th.
Freshman Hailey Schultz was the first Alpena girl across the finish line, recording a personal-best time of 22:13.4. Several Wildcats also posted season-best times despite the difficult weather and course conditions.

Alpena’s other boys’ times were Brendan Werth, 17:12.8; Jude Krey, 18:35.7; Harrison McKay, 18:42.7; Milo Dahleen, 18:55.8; Joel Kaiser, 20:04.2; Damion Moore, 20:43.1; Matthew Kowalski, 22:58.0; Bradyn Hiza, 23:42.4; and Tyler Suszek, 26:31.9.
Other Alpena girls’ times were Ava Karsten, 23:10.7; Abby Misiak, 23:43.9; Lila Scott, 24:52.9; Madison Srebnik, 24:55.1; and Lexi Gembel, 25:56.8.
The Wildcats are scheduled to compete next Saturday, Sept. 26, in Petoskey.
